For Myself, Making Art is Breathing Itself.

When I began sculpting back in 1985 my approach was to utilize found objects. I remove them from their original use/implication and submerge them into a new symbolic environment. And, the symbolic environment is actually a lexicon for conveying the overall meaning of the work. That is usually spiritually/philosophically based.
So, around 2009 I began applying a revamped "found-object" approach to painting. For myself, I realized that for traditional painting everything has been done that can be done. The next natural progression is to completely utilize the digital technology at hand. And, further, that everything can now be plagiarized/borrowed/re-submerged into new contexts that are immersed in the fine art field.

My method is never to appropriate copyrighted material/media but rather utilize creative commons media as well as that stuff that is offered freely without the need for payment or author's mention. Also, objects can be scanned into the computer, graphic arts applications can be used to draw, paint, create patterns, and so on. The resulting images are an amalgamation of all of these techniques. So, to finally answer the question: "Did you create this yourself?" - Yes and no both. They are my thoughts, visions, ideas, and emotions expressed through the latest, greatest invention - the computer.
